It's the simple things...

Some days it is the simple things in life that make me smile. These hydrangeas are from my garden and I put them in a basic white pitcher. So simple and so pretty. They perk up my entire kitchen and bring a bit of summer inside.

  1. Awww! Your 4 yr. old made my day. So sweet! :) I LOVE hydrangeas and planted some this year. I'm anxious to see what color they will be. I lost them in a late frost so I probably won't see any blooms until next summer. Thanks for sharing!

  3. They are lovely. Maybe I will be brave and plant some next year.

Something so simple can make such an impact.

  4. I just stumbled across your blog through Bless our nest. Of coarse, I instantly fell in love with it because you have posted a picture of blue hydrangeas...one of my very favorites! Thank you so much for sharing!

  5. I love hydrangeas, are they hard to grow? I need to try one of these summers. I love the picture below you have of you kids with th stars above. Candid shots are my favorite.

  7. Thanks for all the compliments on my hydrangeas! I love them too. :) These are the "Endless Summer" variety and bloom all summer long.

With that said, last year I got NO blooms because I pruned way too much. So this year I didn't do any pruning (plus it wasn't necessary since I did so much the year before!) and just made sure to water them a lot. It has paid off and they are blooming beautifully!

I have them planted in a very sunny spot and they're against one wall of our house so they get the warmth from that wall too. In my climate, I think that helps--we do NOT live in a hot area, so sometimes it is too cool around here for hydrangeas to do well.

I'm thrilled with how they're blooming this year! :)
