Remember those identical birdcages I bought for a steal at two different garage sales? Well, in the midst of a spray-painting frenzy last week, I repainted the red one--now it is black and is full of little gourds! Actually, it is full of little gourds and three plastic cups. Did that confuse you? See, the gourds are not exactly inexpensive (even using my 40% off coupons at Michaels!) and the birdcage is a lot bigger inside than I realized...so I used some plastic cups to take up some of the interior space. Look at my slightly blurry picture (ooops!) and see if you can see the cups. My husband had no idea they were in there until he practically stuck his nose in the cage.
By the way, it is sitting on my black dresser...I've repainted the drawer fronts from where Handsome scratched them up. I love it!! I'll have to post pictures of it when I return from vacation. Yes, we're still at Disneyland--I love this delayed post feature...
Very very cute! You found the perfect thing for that wire cage! Love it!

So jealous of you being at Disney!! The birdcage turned out great! Great idea for the cups!
ReplyDeleteVERY cute! Great idea to use the cups. :o)
ReplyDeleteI love it. Very smart of you to think of the plastic cups. I would have probably just stood there and swore until something came to me. You know I stole, actually borrowd, your idea for the gouds? I stuck them in my birdcage and loved the look! You have such fantastic ideas!
ReplyDeleteAlso-that is awesome about box tops. I went grocery shopping today-and they donated all my "box tops" and then some and I didn't even have to rip them off and remember to send them with the kidlets! All i have to do is go to that groovy website and stick my recipt number in and voila!
I didn't know that about the other stores. So great that they are supporting our schools!
I have a bird cage in storage because it is gold and dated. I am going to get it and recreate your pumkins and spray the cage black. Love the idea...
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love your idea to put put gourds inside of the birdcage, and how clever to take up space by placing cups inside...you saved money but your birdcage still has "the look"! :)
