This past weekend I went out to a few garage sales and found nothing useful. If I had been in the market for fifteen deskchairs, twenty mats to go under rolling chairs, ten metal filing cabinets, and four tacky bookcases--well, then I would have hit the motherload. Unfortunately I'm not in the market for any of that stuff.
Two weekends ago, however, I found a couple of good things. One of these cost fifty cents and the other cost seventy-five cents.
My husband says the first garage sale ripped me off (the one that charged me 75 cents), especially since the second birdcage came with the bonus of an old magnet stuck to the bottom. Actually, I believe he thinks both garage sales ripped me off because he sees no point to buying a birdcage that can't house a bird...and trust me, we will not be getting a bird!
Still, I was quite excited and have a lot of plans for these birdcages. I did paint one of them just to see what it would look like...
Now I'm thinking of painting it again. This time I'm thinking of painting it black and putting pumpkins in it. I'm not sure yet, but I'll come up with something for these bargains of mine!

Great bargins!!
Husbands! They just don't get it! :)
I can't wait to see what you do with them!
I love your birdcages, and think you got a great deal on them! And I think your idea to paint one black and putting pumpkins is great...and makes me think I need to look for a little birdcage...
Have a great day! :)
Those are great bargains! I think they'd be adorable painted black with pumpkins! Hubbys just don't understand the allure of garage sales!
Wow those are some great finds. I'm loving all the birdcages people are showing. Those carmel bars below look great, I'm going to have to give them a try. The problem is my husband can't eat chocolate so me and the kids end up eating them all, mostly me.
I think they're cute! It's fun that they match!
Great finds! I love your idea of painting them black with pumpkins inside. If you do, please post an "after". : )

p.s. your little kiddos have the cutest smiles!
cute! I found one at goodwill-not for 75 cents though. Good idea to put pumpkins in it-I didn't think of that. I think that is what I'll do. Would be cute on my kitchen table!
I'm thinking black would look great on the other one, and maybe keep the red one for Christmas!
Oh how fun. I can't wait to see the finished results of what you do with them..
You got a great bargain! I agree with the other poster to leave the red one red for Christmas and maybe paint the other one black. Can't wait to see what you do with them!
I love those birdcages and putting fall decor in them would be so cute! I hope you will share the finished product!

What gorgeous birdcages! They'd definitely look great black with pumpkins. They have so much potential!
Great finds! I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Thanks for stopping by today and for your comment about my block of wood. You're the only one who commented on it...made my day. : )
Sweet... You cnat have enough of those sweets around. Men... They just dont get it, bless their hearts, smile!
Darn, I got rid of an old deco birdcage I had... Now I wish I didn't!! I love the Idea of spraying it black & deco it for fall.
I LOVE them....Ooooo I think the black with the pumpkins would be fabulous. I have one in cream (I am leaving it cream for now) that I can't wait to fill with small pumpkins...I am waiting on the real ones to be put out and I will fill it up!!
Oh, me again, I have another smaller birdcage that is filled with pinecones right now in my Fall decor.
Holy moly. GREAT deals on both! I think Walmart sells the exact same birdcages for about $16 each. They are in the home office supply area and the label calls it a card holder or something. Yours look GREAT!
Love your birdcage finds! Isn't it funny how hubbies just don't 'get it' all the time with things we buy?!? ;)
Cute birdcages. I really like them!
I just had to comment back about the secret passageway. My hubby was pretty reluctant when I told him my idea. But once I made it clear that I would be cutting a hole in the wall later if we didn't have the framers add it, he was sold. :-)
