Spray Paint Your Kitchen Accessories

Last week I posted about starting our big kitchen cabinet makeover project--we're painting our oak cabinets white and adding beadboard and trim. I'd love to show you my finished kitchen...but I'm not finished yet. I'm not even finished with the first half of it! Ugh!
I did, however, finish a different project related to my kitchen. One of the comments on last week's post was that I should paint my spice rack white. This was a lightbulb moment for me! You see, I also have a wood paper towel holder that I've been thinking I need to replace because the wood is all dried out. But why should I replace it when I can spray paint it?!
I admit to a brief moment of hesitation over spray painting my Crate and Barrel spice rack...after all, it was a wedding present eight years ago. Then I remembered that I'm kind of tired of it anyhow. However there was zero hesitation about spraying that Target paper towel holder!
Woo! Way better! I'd love to show these to you in my kitchen...but the kitchen is in disarray and the counters are covered with cabinet doors. Stay tuned...the kitchen cabinet project is ongoing!

Great idea! I'm stealing this one. I have a similar spice rack that is longing to be painted black!

I have the standard oak papertowel holder too and wondered if I should spray paint it white. You've help me decide that "It's time!"

Isn't it funny how someone's suggestion hits you like "why didn't I think of that?!?" It looks great and it was a good suggestion. Spray paint is the saver of many a thing that might be headed to the garbage!

Great improvement! I've been contemplating painting my paper towel holder too! Mine's a plastic one from the previous owners...should just replace it, but I hate to just throw stuff in the landfill :)

My motto is "When in doubt, paint it black!"

Or in your case, white.

They look great! I just painted my cabinets white and LUUUUUV them. I have pictures of them on my blog. It's amazing how it opens up your kitchen. Have fun!

I HAVE been spraying my kitchen stuff, too! Makes it all totally new, huh! And I'm trying to work up the courage to repaint my cabinets, as well . . . ugh! (But they need it in the worst way!) Can't wait to see yours all finished!

Visiting from Kimba's party. :) This is a great post! I have an almost identical spice rack (mine was a wedding gift, I think from Macy's) and I have been hating on it recently. I am gonna spray paint mine as well!!! :)

I've seen a lot of spray painting going on in Blogland. This is great! What a wonderful quick fix for a new look.

I can't wait to watch your step by step approach to redoing your kitchen. I am so wanting to paint my cabinets which are exactly like yours. But ... we have only been in this house for 5 years and it was brand new and I can't bring myself to do it.

Yay for spray paint! It's a miracle worker in my book!

Thanks for stopping by, and yeah, that quote is from Psalms-it's a great reminder for me (it helps that I can peak out at the mountains from my window!)

I have the exact same spice rack that we got as a wedding present too! I've been thinking of buying a new one, but I might paint mine instead. Thanks for the idea. I can't wait to see your kitchen makeover since I'm planning the same thing. (Not trying to copy I promise!)
