Decoupage Easter Eggs

Easter decorations are few and far between in my house this year--the construction project has me all out sorts and I just couldn't get into decorating for this holiday. I did, however, join in the decoupaged Easter eggs craze! I've seen these all over blogland and just had to give them a try.
They were super easy--just take plastic Easter eggs, use a foam brush to put on a layer of Mod Podge, then put on torn bits of tissue paper, then brush on some more Mod Podge. Easy Peasy! One word of caution though...I tried doing some with plain tissue paper and they did not turn out well. I think that tissue paper was too thin whereas the rose pattern tissue paper was thicker.

One thing I like is that the underlying color of the plastic eggs shows through the tissue paper a bit and changes the colors of the outside. I don't think you'd get the same effect with scrapbook paper.

Those are so cute!! I did some with vintage book papers and glitter and they turned out cute. I did one with scrapbook paper and I wouldn't say it was my favorite. Then I did one with strips of fabric and it was my favorite!!

I love the eggs! I can see where this idea could run wild and before you know it you are decoupaging the kids. :)

Thank you for commenting on my blog! The cottage has been a fun project...but so glad it is almost over.

Good luck on your fam room addition. How exciting! We just recently finished some exterior remodeling on our house, and it made such a big difference!

Cute!

And your kids doing the marshmellow rainbows are adorable! (Mine would eat the marshmellows!)
