Mirror Before and After

Yesterday I posted this lovely picture (ha!) of my laundry drying racks in my "formal" dining room and mentioned that I was planning on painting my dining room mirror and candleholders.

Well, yesterday we finally had nice weather (today it is back to rain...ugh!) so during naptime I brought the mirror and candleholders outside and spray-painted them black. Woohoo! The paint job isn't perfect, but it works just fine for me--and I *love* the change!

Now I need to get small white pillar candles to replace the cream ones. That will really pop and make it look better with my shades on the dining room light fixture. I am a million-and-one times happier with this look than I was with the blech oak framed mirror.

Someday I'll be able to replace the table and chairs too, but not now. For now this table does just fine--especially since it mostly is used for craft projects and puzzles!

See what other people are talking about for Talk About Tuesday over on the Lazy Organizer.

It looks great. It's amazing what a change of color will do.

I like your table and chairs.

Looks great!!!

By the way, my boys always seemed to have to have one nail polished when their sisters had theirs done. Just a little frill and fluff!

I just wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog.

And Yes, us Portugues people have second kitchens..LOL! I left a post about it on "our cosy nest" if you want to read about it.

Your dining room cleans up very well! It's just beautiful.

Blessings to you,

Looks great. If you want to change the table, find a tablecloth you like.

The mirror looks SO great black! I agree about the white pillar candles instead of the cream colored ones.

Have you thought about painting your table since you mentioned you might replace it some day? I have a 1990's farm house style table with Windsor back chairs that started life as white, then we spray painted them dark green, and last winter I brush painted them flat black after sanding. Black paint can work mircles, lol Anyway just a thought...

I am a big CHICKEN about painting the table and chairs!! I would *love* for the table and chairs to be black and then stain the seats of the chairs and the top of the table a nice cherry color.

I'm scared I'll wreck the table though and then we'll *have* to get a new set. All the twisty bits on the table and chairs have me worried!!

We painted our table black and stained it Sugar Maple (which is a pretty reddish brown) and we love it.

Your mirror looks fab!

What a difference paint can make. The change looks beautiful! I love it. Where did the laundry go? Mine is still where it was yesterday, all across my table. Smiles, Susie H

Most of the laundry actually is put away already! What a shocker! Usually it stays downstairs for about a week--but we're having new carpet installed at the end of the week so I need to be on top of things. ;)

Just be brave and paint the table! It really isn't that hard. Some people actually use spray paint. If you do it just remember to sand slightly first so that the varnish on the table is roughed up-you don't have to take it comepletely off but you have to rough it up or the new paint won't adhere. After you paint it-black perhaps you can slightly distress it with sandpaper and then go over it with a pretty stain.

I like your candle idea. I have a large mirror in my dining room as well and I think adding candles to the sides would be a nice touch!

Thanks for coming by!

I love that you are showing us your laundry! I'm not brave enough to let people in to see that I actually have laundry at my house. Why do we pretend that we don't do laundry when everyone knows that we do! Love your blog and will be back soon.
